Inspirational fundraisers
At Nordoff Robbins, we are lucky enough to receive support through a range of different events and other fundraising initiatives – be it through ticket sales, guest list donations, sale of merchandise, sporting challenges or collections. Here are some of the fantastic events which support Nordoff Robbins…
Silver Clef Concert Series
From piano to song, from tap to tango, versatile musicians like soprano Katie Bird and pianist Claire Howard have entertained in the intimate concert hall in the Nordoff Robbins North London Centre. Thank you to these generous and talented people who give their time free of charge.
Apocalypstick – music at The Hawley Arms
The most rock n’ roll pub in North London, the infamous Hawley Arms, supported us through their monthly intimate live performances with donations made on the door. Nights included sets from The Rumble Strips, Roxy Rawson, Sam McCarthy, Aeroplanes, Martha Wainwright, The Thirst and Amy Winehouse.
Love6Music - 6 Fest
Love6music galvanised the campaign which saved BBC Radio 6 Music and in September 2010, ‘6 Fest’ was held to thank everyone involved. Over £3,000 was raised from the sale of ticket sales and merchandise.
Jackson-Stops and Staff centenary cycle
10 cyclists from Jackson-Stops and Staff set off from Berkeley Square, London and cycled to each of the 40 Jackson-Stops offices covering over 1500 miles. Alex Langdon completed 250 miles to reach the Darlington office! But David Parris, the Group Operations Director cycled the furthest, about 300 miles to Truro. Over £2,500 was raised for Nordoff Robbins.

London to Paris Bike rides
Jason Yeo and Adam Labbett completed the exhausting 250 mile cycle through London, Kent and Northern France, arriving in Paris after 4 days and raising a fantastic £139. The boys remained upbeat throughout, even when Jason’s bike was stolen in Paris. (include photo)
Thane Jackson’s one-man cycling challenge
The challenge Thane Jackson of BCD Travel signed up for was cancelled. So he organised his own with the support of BCD Travel who paid for his accommodation along the route. Thane raised nearly £1,600.
Egypt Bike Ride
Rod Smallwood (Phantom Music Management) and Mike Miller (Nordoff Robbins) were among the riders taking part in a sponsored bike ride in support of Nordoff Robbins and ChildLine. They cycled over 100 miles along the Nile in 48 hours raising £132,000 for the two charities. Watch this space for info on their Cuba bike ride.
Virgin London Marathon
Helen Richards and Graham Boswell completed the London Marathon, raising over £1,000. It was Helen’s first marathon.

Great North Run
Heather Fitsell raised £400 by running her first half marathon. “Many of you know that music is a fundamental part of my social life and it brings me great joy and has brought me many new friendships.”
A Handful of Keys
Diederick Potgieter performed a series of piano concerts at his house for friends and family asking for a minimum donation of £5. He raised £1,055 with his employer donating to bring the final total up to £1,805.
Rock the Lough
August 2010 saw a small music festival take place in Enniskillen in Northern Ireland. Organised by Niall Bouge, this wonderful event featured live bands for 12 hours on two stages, raising £4,500.
Battle of the Big Bands
In March 2011, King’s College London Jazz Society hosts the Battle of the Big Bands, an annual event which sees the four top University of London Big Bands - KCL, Imperial, UCL and University of London Union competing against each other. It is a very successful and enjoyable night, with a lot of participation and support from musicians, friends and family and this year all proceeds go to Nordoff Robbins.
Ukuleles and Open mics
Steve Ball is a musician and music tutor who runs Open Mic Nights and Ukulele clubs. Steve is supporting Nordoff Robbins by fundraising at his events which are always well attended and enjoyed by everyone involved.
