UK music therapy organisations
British Society for Music Therapy
The British Society for Music Therapy (BSMT) was founded in 1958 and promotes music therapy in the UK. Membership is open to all.
Association of Professional Music Therapists
The Association of Professional Music Therapists (APMT) was founded in 1976 and is the representative professional organisation for qualified music therapists. It aims to maintain high standards of practice throughout the profession and can advise organisations on the employment of music therapists. Membership is open to qualified music therapists only.
Health Professions Council
The Health Profession Council (HPC) is the statutory regulatory organisation through which music therapists in the UK are registered. Music therapy in the UK has been a state registered profession
since 1999. Use the online register on this site to check the registration status of any music therapist.
Music Therapy Charity
The Music Therapy Charity was founded in 1969 to support Music Therapists in the UK. Its principal function is to raise money to fund research into music therapy.

European Music Therapy Confederation (EMTC) was founded in 1990. It
is a confederation of professional music therapy associations
and acts as a forum for exchange between music therapists in Europe. It contains weblinks to the principal music therapy organisations in all countries in the European Union.

Music Therapy World is an international online resource containing articles, conference reports, and other information about the music therapy profession, edited by Prof David Aldridge of the University of Witten/Herdecke, Germany. Due to the closure of the music therapy department there in 2007, this site is not currently being updated but remains online as a resource.

Its current editor is Simon Procter, Programme Director of the Master in Music Therapy degree programme at the Nordoff-Robbins National Centre.

VOICES: A World Forum for Music Therapy
Voices is an online music therapy journal published three times a year in afilliation with the Nordic Journal of Music Therapy.
