Who has Music Therapy
Our music therapy sessions are used to treat people for ongoing or temporary physical and mental conditions, eg: learning difficulties and disability, physical disability, neurological disabilities and disorders, mental illness, dementia, developmental delay, physical and sexual abuse, stress and terminal illness, as well as refugees and asylum seekers and children and adults with cancer and related diseases.
We provide group and individual music therapy in a wide variety of settings, including specialist music therapy centres, mainstream schools, special schools, hospitals, hospices, andcare homes for the elderly.
Children that receive music therapy have usually been referred by a health or education professional or their parent or carer. Adults are referred by Social Services, their carers or can self refer.
Nordoff-Robbins Centres and regions have different referral systems, working within specific settings, so if you are interested in referring someone for treatment please go to Our Music Therapy Services to find the centre convenient and most relevant to you.
To see examples of cases that we have already treated please take a look at our Case Studies.
