Who benefits from our work?
In providing services to people of all ages, across the major public sectors of Health, Education and Social Services, Nordoff Robbins is a unique organisation.
There are many reasons that people seek the transforming power of music. Among the children and adults who benefit from our work are those who live with (or have previously suffered from):
-
A mental and/or physical disability
-
Neurological damage
-
Down’s Syndrome and other causes of developmental delay
-
Autistic Spectrum Disorder
-
Social or emotional disturbance
-
Depression or mental illness
-
Dementia
-
Abuse (physical, sexual or emotional)
-
Prolonged anxiety or stress
-
Life-threatening or terminal illness
-
Refugee / asylum-seeking status
-
Sudden emotional stress (eg bereavement)
-
A wish to engage in a process of self-exploration and personal development
This is not an exhaustive list. Our Case studies page offers a brief snapshot of some of the people who have benefited from the work of Nordoff Robbins.
Children and adults are seen both individually and in groups (there are reasons why one or other of these alternatives may be more appropriate for different people). Many of our services are provided within our partner organisations (eg schools or hospitals) and are therefore only available to people in need within that organisation. Some of our services operate an open referral system where anyone can be referred by a parent, carer, or professional, or can refer themselves. Please see Our Services for details of the specific services that we currently provide around the UK.
