Nordoff Robbins is developing new services in the North East region. We are making links and partnerships with local organisations in education, social services, healthcare and the voluntary sector. The Hawthorns Care Centre, Peterlee, County Durham
The Hawthorns is a Barchester Care Home, providing residential care and a day service for older people with a variety of mental health conditions including dementia. It also has a neurodisability rehabilitation centre for adults with brain and spine injuries. Janet Graham began work here in November 2007.
The Billingham Grange Care Centre, Billingham, Cleveland
The Billingham Grange is a Barchester specialist centre caring for people with young-onset dementia and challenging behaviour. It is registered with the Healthcare Commission as an independent hospital and patients are admitted on an informal or formal basis under the 1983 Mental Health Act. Janet Graham began work here in November 2007.
Palmersdene, Jarrow
Palmersdene is an Anchor Trust Care Home offering short and long-stay care for older people, including elderly frail and people who have dementia. Jim Nield began work here as music therapist with Nordoff Robbins in November 2008.

Kirkley Lodge is an Anchor Trust Care Home offering long-stay care for older people, including elderly frail and people who have dementia. Jim Nield began work here as music therapist with Nordoff Robbins in November 2008.
10 Week Introductory Course (Durham)
Nordoff Robbins North East offers an annual ten week introductory course to music therapy as part of the Nordoff Robbins Training and Education programme. The course gives a theoretical introduction to the Nordoff-Robbins approach to music therapy, illustrated by case-studies and experiential improvisation. Janet Graham worked as a composer and piano teacher before training as a music therapist at the Nordoff Robbins London Centre in London in 1989-90. She worked for many years as a therapist in London and Hertfordshire, and as a tutor on the Nordoff Robbins MMT training programme, before moving to Co. Durham in October 2007 as Head Music Therapist for Nordoff Robbins in the North East. She also works as a music therapist at two care centres in Billingham and Peterlee, respectively.
