In addition to the events detailed, we offer individualised support, providing assistance with musical projects involving vulnerable people, including preparation, mentoring and review of work. Music skills for Outreach and Education Work
Course Leader: Matthew Dixon
This is a day for musicians who are not music therapists but who work, or are intending to work, in community, healthcare or educational settings. It sets out to develop basic musical skills for involving and engaging people of all ages, especially vulnerable people, in music making. It will include ideas for improvisation and for adapting familiar music to suit different circumstances.
Music Technology for People with Special Needs
Course Leader: Ray Travasso
This workshop is aimed at musicians working in community, healthcare or educational who would like to use music technology as a way of including people with disabilities or special needs. You will be shown how to set up and use various kinds of electronic musical equipment including; MIDI instruments, DJ effects units and MIDIcreator. There will also be a focus on the use of creative software for making and editing music on computer. Only minimal experience of technology is needed.
