We offer workshops for professionals across the education sector, from pre-school to secondary level focusing on inclusion of children with special needs. Most workshops need no previous musical experience, though music specialists may also find them useful for their work.

Inclusive Music Making in Early Years Education
Course Leader: Jasenka Horvat
Pre-school professionals are increasingly facing the challenge of working with children with a wide range of needs, including learning, physical or sensory impairments, ASD, ADHD etc.. This workshop looks at how musical games and activities can be used to foster overall development, including communication and socialization with young children and promote integration. It will involve practical work using simple songs and percussion instruments, and no previous musical experience is required.
Music Skills for Circle Time
Course Leader: Donald Wetherick
This workshop is for those working with primary age children in a school setting. Based around the widely used Circle Time format it explores ideas for including music to support Circle Time activities and develops skills for using music creatively in small group or class setting. It also looks at strategies for including children with special needs. No previous musical experience is needed.
Music and Children with Autism, ADHD or Asperger's Syndrome

Music can be an effective way to engage with children with autism, Asperger’s syndrome or ADHD, where verbal communication and group tasks can be difficult. Most professionals in education will encounter such children at some point, whether working in mainstream or special education. This workshop explores musical approaches which can be used in one-to-one or small group settings to promote communication and social skills. No previous musical experience is required.
