Why we need your support
In order to operate as a charity we need to raise almost £3m a year, from scratch and without any statutory income.
Your support enables us to:
- Provide over 30,000 music therapy sessions a year, all led by therapists registered with the Health Professions Council
- Operate a national centre and 50 regional outreach projects
- Train the music therapists of the future through our masters programmes, validated by City University
- Offer the only PHD programme in music therapy available in the UK.
- Provide training through workshops, courses and conferences to therapists, health professionals, teachers, health and social care professionals and musicians.
- Undertake and publish research projects, support staff undertaking research, and promote Nordoff Robbins music therapy to professionals and the public through publications and events.
We also need to offer suitable locations, access to instruments and recording equipment to evaluate sessions.
The demand for trained music therapists to work with children and adults continues to grow.
In order to meet those demands Nordoff Robbins is developing further national outreach projects, often in conjunction with other organisations.
Once a worthwhile, feasible project has been identified, then financial support becomes necessary either to rent or construct and equip a purpose built space out of which to operate, or to set up a community based service, and then to fund a therapist’s ongoing salary and expenses.
