Supporting people UK-wide: Nordoff Robbins policy position

At Nordoff Robbins, we work across England, Scotland and Wales. We are a charity with vibrant and relevant country identities, committed to providing services as locally as possible to ensure they are accessible to the people who need them most.

In this way our music therapists can support communities and individuals who would otherwise be unable to access our services due to location, financial constraints, and limited ability to reach out – enabling us to work with those who are homeless, have refugee status, or use community mental health services.

We provide music therapy services in a range of settings, from our own centres to working in partnership with local organisations in local communities, such as schools, care homes, and hospitals. We also work with government, devolved governments, local authorities and other local partners to identify and respond to local need. In this way we can reach the people who need us most and ensure that the crucial role of music therapy is understood, recognised and acted upon by key decision-makers.

We have worked hard to make our Masters-level music therapy training equally available across three cities – London, Manchester and Newcastle. In this way we are growing the geographical diversity of tomorrow’s music therapy workforce, making music therapy more accessible across the UK.
