Summer School for Music Therapists, Online, 18th – 21st July 2022

Nordoff Robbins annual international summer school for music therapists will now be held online for the second year in succession.

Course Details

We will be holding our annual Summer School for music therapists online this year. The Summer School offers music therapists who trained in other traditions practical experience of the ideas and techniques of the Nordoff Robbins approach to music therapy.

What does the Summer School include?

The Summer School will include:

  • Practical workshops in musical techniques and awareness
  • Sharing and discussion of participants’ own music therapy work (for which participants will need to bring recent recordings of their work)
  • Seminars discussing current principles underlying Nordoff Robbins music therapy and current developments in the approach
  • Input on music therapy research

All with a strong emphasis on practical music-making.

What do I need to participate?

If you’re a trained music therapist anywhere in the world you are welcome to join us for four days of learning, sharing and experiencing. You should have a lively interest in musical  action, intention and thinking within music therapy. You should also be open to sharing recordings of your work with others and be prepared to “have a go” at music making in workshops.

What we will offer you

We will work with you on extending the range of your own music-making skills and awareness, and we will provide information for you about what we do and how we do it. We will offer you opportunities to experience something of the Nordoff Robbins approach to supervision in relation to your own work.

We always aim for a supportive atmosphere which can be responsive to each person’s needs and interests, both during this week and beyond.

If you have any questions about the Summer School online please email education@nordoff-robbins.org.uk. We look forward to welcoming you

PLEASE NOTE that this is NOT a training programme: it is intended as a useful CPD experience for already qualified music therapists. It does not confer any eligibility to work as a music therapist or any status as a Nordoff Robbins music therapist.

Monday 18th – Thursday 21st July 2022

9.00 – 15.30 (GMT) each day

We will allow ample time for breaks to ensure we avoid “Zoom fatigue”.

We will be working online using Zoom software, which is free to use. We will send you details of how to configure this best for the musical work we will be doing.
