Brian McLaughlin lifetime achievement recognition 16th August 2017 Nordoff Robbins presents a lifetime achievement recognition to one of our most dedicated and long term supporters, Brian McLaughlin. Brian is a passionate advocate of music therapy, and we are so grateful for his tireless work to raise awareness of our work and funds for Nordoff Robbins. Since Brian started at HMV as an assistant in the Portsmouth branch his whole career has been built around music. This love of music led Brian to become a passionate supporter of Nordoff Robbins . Even after he retired in 2005, Brian has remained a dedicated supporter. As well as being Chairman of the Legends of Football Event Brian has been a member of the Nordoff Robbins Fundraising Committee, the Music Industry Trusts Committee and a very committed member of the Nordoff Robbins Board of Governors. Brian said: “Seeing the work that the Nordoff Robbins music therapists do day-in, day-out never ceases to amaze me. It’s always an honour to see, and I couldn’t be happier to play my part in making it happen.” Brian’s biggest contribution to the work of Nordoff Robbins is without doubt, the Legends of Football event. Originally Brian’s brainchild, the annual celebration marks its twenty second year this October. The event has grown into one of the footballing social highlights of the year, honouring some of the finest football players in the world – this year Liverpool FC icon Steven Gerrard. Legends of Football has raised over £7 million, helping countless people to gain access to music therapy, and enabling us to support those who need it most. Julie Whelan, CEO of Nordoff Robbins, said: “All charities rely on the support of committed individuals but few charities will ever be lucky enough to have someone with the kind of drive, passion and raw enthusiasm that Brian has brought to Nordoff Robbins. Brian has always had great ambitions for the charity and has inspired the team here to dream bigger and achieve more than we ever thought possible. We honestly can’t thank him enough for everything he has done to support our work.” David Munns, Chair of Nordoff Robbins, said: “Brian is someone who deeply believes that music has a life-changing impact on people, and he has worked tirelessly over the years to help us make sure that as many people as possible have access to our life changing work.” Find out more about Legends of Football and buy tickets online here, in support of music therapy.
