DAVE OKUMU PRINCE TRIBUTE raising money for Nordoff Robbins 7th June 2016 “Prince saved my life. He was, and remains, my favourite musician.” ‘Oceans of Purple’ is the first single to be released on Dave Okumu’s new label Ruby Moon Records. Written by Dave in the wake of Prince’s death, it features additional vocals from Jamie Woon. All proceeds will be donated to us here at Nordoff Robbins to help us change more lives through music. Compelled to respond to Prince’s death with as much love and creativity as he could muster and inspired by Prince’s continual thirst for progress and development, Dave established Ruby Moon Records. The first single on the label ‘Oceans of Purple’, is a celebration of Prince’s willingness to embrace contradiction and complexity and to aspire to elevate humanity through the universal language of music. listen to oceans of purple “Raw and refined, he resides in my spirit as an emblem for free and fearless expression. Even beyond the grave, through his overwhelming contribution to culture, Prince challenges me to go deep into my inspiration and not to be dictated to by external factors. In recent years, through the loss of my mother, I have learned that death can’t contain love. As I confront the grief of losing my hero, I rejoice in the fact that I will spend the rest of my years floating in an ocean of purple.” The single will be released on the 25th June, the day that his seminal album ‘Purple Rain’ was released in 1984. All proceeds from the sale of the single will be donated to Nordoff Robbins. ‘Oceans of Purple’ is written and produced by Dave Okumu, featuring additional vocals by Jamie Woon and strings by Julian Ferrareto. Mixed by Lexxx at Konk Studios and mastered by Guy Davie at Electric Mastering. #GetLoud on Wednesday 8th June and help us change more lives through music. 6 reasons to Get Loud for Nordoff Robbins What is music therapy?
