Mervyn Lyn becomes Nordoff Robbins trustee

We are very proud to announce the newest member of our board of trustees, Mervyn Lyn.

We are very proud to announce the newest member of our board of trustees, Mervyn Lyn.

Mervyn, who will be joining the board in February 2021, was the perfect candidate for Nordoff Robbins as not only does he bring a lived experience of Nordoff Robbins music therapy through his daughter, but he also has extensive experience in the music industry.  He brings experience from his substantial roles in championing diversity, equality and inclusion, where he has been the driving force for change, including spearheading the diversification of the Brit Awards nominations.

Sandra Schembri, Chief Executive of Nordoff Robbins said,

“I am really excited about Mervyn joining our board of Trustees. Mervyn will bring so much to Nordoff Robbins, with his understanding of the impact music therapy can have, having such extensive experience in the industry and his huge desire for change in diversity, equality and inclusion – everything about him and his life’s work aligns with our mission. I really look forward to working with him as we not only recover and rebuild post-pandemic but continue with our aim to reach more vulnerable people than ever before across the UK with music therapy.”

On being appointed, Mervyn said,

Thinking back on my time within the music industry, there weren’t too many ‘establishment events’ that resonated more to me than The O2 Silver Clef Luncheon and all it stood for. To be asked now to join the charitable board of this very special organisation is a one of the most satisfying appointments that I’ve had in my 35+ years in the business.

I’ve been, because of my beautiful daughter, a grateful recipient of the work that Nordoff Robbins music therapy does and I hope to expand our reach and make the life changing work it does more accessible to plenty more folks who are in desperate need, and more importantly, in need of hope.

I’m honoured to be a part of this amazing charity and can’t wait to get started on this incredible journey.”
