18th October 2019 Delighted to support the Gramophone Young Artist of the Year News Partnerships Supporters The Gramophone Classical Music Awards, launched in 1977, are one of the most significant honours bestowed on recordings in the classical record industry. For 2019 we were honoured to partner with Gramophone to support the Young Artist of the Year – Jakub Józef Orliński About the winner Aged just 28, Jakub Józef Orliński has certainly proved himself worthy of being named Young Artist of the Year. Not many singers could switch roles at short notice to play the title role in Handel’s Rinaldo at Glyndebourne, whilst maintaining a side-hustle as a professional model and break-dancer. The potential pitfall for style over substance clearly doesn’t apply to Orliński, whose debut album ‘Anima Sacra’ on Erato was also deservedly shortlisted for this year’s Recital Award. Sandy Trappitt, Nordoff Robbins’ Head of Partnerships, said: “It was a real honour for us to support the young musician of the year award at this year’s Gramophones. As the UK’s largest music therapy charity, music is at the core of what we do at Nordoff Robbins, and classical music is central to that. It’s been a real pleasure to work with Gramophone to help position classical front and centre of our work in 2019. Jacob is an incredible musician and a deserving winner for the year’s award – I’d like to pass on congratulations from all of us at Nordoff Robbins.” To see the awards in full: For details of all 2019 winners, please visit https://www.gramophone.co.uk/awards/2019 More News Music helped the UK get through lockdown, new insights from the BPI show Music raised the nation’s spirits, helping people to feel better, cope with anxiety, and aiding exercise, work and study.
