Strange Face – Adventures With A Lost Nick Drake Recording 23rd June 2017 Writer, performer and super Nordoff Robbins supporter Michael Burdett is hosting a particularly special event on Friday 30th June. It all started back in the 1970s when he discovered a lost Nick Drake recording in a skip… Fast forward 30 years, and Michael set off around the country offering strangers the opportunity to hear this recording in exchange for being photographed. Out of this came a collection of photos and stories from people all over Britain, including a few famous names like Billy Bragg, Tom Stoppard, Fearne Cotton, Martin Freeman and Noel Fielding. This campaign, called the Strange Face Project, has grown and grown. It now consists not only of the book of these incredible photos, but also a show which Michael performs. This award-winning show, Strange Face – Adventures With A Lost Nick Drake Recording, was a Times Top Pick of the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe, and is a celebration of life, coincidences and the legacy of singer-songwriter Nick Drake Friday 30 June sees Michael bring his performance to our partner venue, the Royal Albert Hall. You can read all the details and buy your tickets on their website here. “Some of the photos are exquisite…and the story behind the photo session that went into producing it are often enthralling” – Time Out “Burdett is a compelling gentle raconteur. A right riveting show.” – The Scotsman “Michael Burdett takes us on a road that feels full of sunshine. That is because this is ultimately an uplifting tale.” – Fringe Review More News MITs Award 2022: Jamal Edwards MBE to be honoured Jamal Edwards MBE is to be honoured with this year’s prestigious Music Industry Trusts Award (MITS), in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the music industry as a music entrepreneur, DJ and founder of the multifaceted music platform SB.TV.
