Strange Face

Strange Face is the story of a lost Nick Drake recording and how the man who found it chose to share it in an extraordinary way. That man and the book’s author is Michael Burdett, a composer for TV. He chose to support Nordoff Robbins through the project after seeing the positive effect music had on his Aunt who suffered with dementia;

“My aunt died five years ago. Olive was an amazing woman. She was 89 when she passed away and dementia had taken its grip. The last three years of her life she didn’t know who she was, where she was or how old she was. But if I played the piano in front of her right up until the time she died, she would sing like a bird. Music can be so powerful in helping people.”

Burdett later developed a one man stage show of the Strange Face – Adventures With A Lost Nick Drake Recording, which is touring the country in 2017. This year he starred at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival Pleasance Courtyard. The show has received rave reviews including winning the Darkchat’s Best Free Fringe Show at Edinburgh 2014.

To date Michael has raised over £5000 for Nordoff Robbins UK and Scotland through Strange Face. This is incredible and could help us bring comfort and joy to 100 children in hospital during a one-to-one music therapy sessions.
