Young boy playing drums

Bo’s Story

Bo is seven years old, he’s blind and partially deaf and has kidney failure, meaning he is dependent on receiving dialysis three times a week. But in music therapy Bo can experience a great sense of enjoyment and achievement.

Bo meets twice a week with his music therapist Francesca where he really loves playing the drums (and he’s really good too!). In the sessions, he is encouraged to use both his arms to explore different sounds and to really engage in active music-making.

Francesa said: “Through music therapy, Bo has experienced a great sense of enjoyment and achievement. He’s developed his musical skills, especially on the drum kit, which has also given him greater confidence and a sense of empowerment.”
