Eddie’s Story

Eddie was a gifted musician living with dementia – music therapy helped him reconnect with his passion and find a way to communicate when words failed him.

Eddie always had a passion for painting and music and was an accomplished drummer in a band. But in later life he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and could no longer enjoy the things he used to do or fulfil the plans he’d had with his wife June.

Although Eddie has now passed away, June remains grateful for the difference music therapy made to him. She said: “Before my eyes, Eddie started disappearing. But when music therapy came into his life his world lit up again.

In the music, Eddie found himself again and the drummer in Eddie shone through. We are so grateful to Nordoff Robbins because in these moments of music, Eddie was transformed and I would get my husband back.”
