Music Therapist (East of Scotland)

What we can offer

We are Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy and music is in our DNA. We use the power of music to enrich the lives of people affected by life-limiting illness, isolation or disability and we are the largest music therapy charity in the UK. Post pandemic, charities and education providers have had to become agile and flexible and adapt new ways of working.   We have thrived on these challenges and Nordoff Robbins is now looking for a music therapist to join our team in the East of Scotland in August 2022. This could be suitable for a newly qualified music therapist who would join Nordoff Robbins’ Graduate Employment Scheme or could equally suit a more experienced music therapist.

We are NR

If you want to work at a charity with people and music at its heart; that is committed to providing an equitable, diverse and inclusive workplace full of inspiring colleagues who work tirelessly to put those we exist to serve front and centre of everything we do; if you want to work collaboratively with integrity and kindness and are willing to come with us on a journey as we work together and collectively come to work with strong backs, soft fronts and wild hearts, we could be your next team.

Are you NR?

If you are values driven, courageous, curious, agile, flexible, enthusiastic and future focused (without losing sight of the here and now), if you can bring positivity and accountability to your work, if you strive for brilliance, challenges excite you and if you would speak with passion and dedication about our cause we want to hear from you!

What we are looking for

What we need:

As part of our service development in East of Scotland, we are offering a 3-day (minimum) per week music therapist role, based in or around Edinburgh / Lothians / Fife to a graduate from any UK music therapy training programme. We also hope to offer a similar role in the Dundee / Tayside area.  The work is likely to involve a variety of client groups including both children and adults and will involve some travel (for which a car will be essential). Depending on availability of work and the successful candidate’s preference, up to 5 days of work may be able to be offered.

This is an exciting opportunity for a music therapist with a real enthusiasm for practising within the music-centred Nordoff Robbins approach, and we are committed to providing tailored support for the successful candidate.

Nordoff Robbins offers excellent rates of pay, regular supervision, line management, CPD and mandatory training.  The successful candidate will work independently, delivering music therapy in a range of settings, but as part of a wider regional team with continual management and peer support. For newly-qualified therapists, our Graduate Employment Scheme offers additional support to those setting out in the profession.

You must be a fully qualified music therapist, with use of your own car (as partnerships are often in varied locations).  This post is open to applications from all HCPC-registered music therapists. At Nordoff Robbins we want to make music’s opportunities available to people who could benefit from them most, and that’s why we want to make the distinctive ‘music-centred’ Nordoff Robbins approach to music therapy available to more people in more places.  We therefore ask applicants to explain in their application why they are keen to join us in working within this approach.  Equally, we are prepared to offer active support to successful applicants who may not have been specifically trained to work this way, so we’d also like you to tell us how you think we could help you with this.

What we offer:

A salary of £29,952 to £32,421 per annum pro rata

Pension scheme

31 days annual leave (pro rata)

Salary sacrifice benefits including cycle to work

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

A true People First charity with training and career development as part of our core

An inclusive culture – and lots of music!
