We worked with nearly 400 partnership organisations last year, including Special Educational Needs and mainstream schools, care homes, and hospitals.
16,979
We supported over 16,000 people with music therapy sessions. We work with people of all ages, from autistic children to adults living with dementia.
54,654
We held over 54,000 music therapy sessions last year. We have over 100 highly-trained music therapists working across the UK with a wide range of people.
We asked our clients about the difference music therapy makes. Of those we surveyed:
- 93% said we improved their quality of life
- 92% said we improved the quality of their communication and relationships
- 97% said we had a positive impact within their whole organisation
- 91% would recommend our work to others
You’ve seen the numbers, but now it’s time to hear from our clients about the impact music therapy has had for them.
I can honestly say hand on my heart that discovering Nordoff and Robbins helped save our beautiful girl from what looked like a very difficult future. That’s even if she had a future.
Bev, Ruby’s mum
Ruby, was 14 years old when she was sectioned under the Mental Health Act due to suicide attempts, self-harm and unpredictable behaviour. Music therapy gave Ruby a space space, free from the pressure of a clinical environment. It helped Ruby start to believe in herself, and as her mum says: “music therapy saved her life“.
When there’s no music involved, you can barely get two words out of James. He doesn’t really like meeting new people or making eye contact. Where there’s no music, there’s no James.
James’ mum
James is 14 years old and lives with cerebral palsy, visual impairment and learning difficulties. He spends his days in a wheelchair, with little energy to move his arms or body. But as his mum reflects, during his music therapy sessions James ‘comes alive’.

Music therapy can be life-changing. But the demand for music therapy is increasing by the day. Hospital waiting lists are growing, and so are ours as we strive to support those who are left waiting diagnosis and support they desperately need. As a charity that receives no government funding, we need your help to continue our vital music therapy work with some of the most isolated people in society. Donate today.
