The Peter Schmeichel Fund

Welcome to Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy, the chosen charity of the Peter Schmeichel Fund. All of the money raised through Peter’s personalised video messages will go directly to helping Nordoff Robbins provide music therapy to vulnerable people across the UK.

Why the Peter Schmeichel fund chose to support Nordoff Robbins

Whilst nearly everyone knows Peter for his football, he’s also an avid musician and lover of music. A keen drummer and a budding guitarist, Peter has been using music to get through lockdown and truly understands the power that music has.

Here’s why Peter is supporting Nordoff Robbins, in his own words.

“Music runs through our family’s veins, it always has. It was passed down to me from my father from when I was a little kid, and from me to Kasper. When I pick up those drumsticks or start strumming the guitar, I relax. I get taken to another place, another world. Music really is my therapy.

So, to support Nordoff Robbins means I can give the gift of music back. I can personally help vulnerable people to have music and music therapy in their lives, which for some, is their lifeline.”

Who are Nordoff Robbins?

Nordoff Robbins is the largest independent music therapy charity in the UK, dedicated to enriching the lives of people affected by life limiting illness, isolation, disability or mental health.

Our music therapists are expertly trained to tune into each movement, reaction and expression of the individuals they work with to discover how music can enrich their lives. This could be to unlock memories, to communicate where words have failed, to socially connect with family and friends, and to build confidence and self-esteem.
