At Nordoff and Robbins we have a duty to ensure that everyone working in our organisation has a responsibility to promote the welfare of all children, young people and adults at risk, to keep them safe and to practise in a way that protects them. Nordoff and Robbins is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk who we serve. We are also committed to ensuring our safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities, government guidance on safeguarding and complies with the best practice as approved by the Charities Commission.

Our safeguarding policies and procedures recognise that the wellbeing and safety of children, young people and adults at risk must be paramount in all circumstances. We aim to ensure that regardless of age, gender, religion or beliefs, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation or socio-economic background, our service users receive high quality service and that we always act in the interests of their safeguarding and wellbeing. We recognise that many people we work with may have barriers in communicating which can impact their ability to report to us. We shall work to ensure that whilst participating in any activity provided by Nordoff and Robbins we will work to ensure they are protected from abuse. We are also committed to ensuring that we work collaboratively with agencies supporting welfare of the people we work with to prevent and mitigate risks of any abuse in their lives.

We recognise that some our service users may be particularly vulnerable to abuse and we will take reasonable and appropriate steps to ensure their welfare whilst in our services. As part of our safeguarding policy we will:

• promote and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and adults at risk
• ensure timely and appropriate action is taken in the event of incidents/concerns of abuse
• ensure everyone understands their roles and responsibilities in respect of safeguarding and has undertaken appropriate safeguarding training to recognise, identify and respond to signs of abuse, neglect and other safeguarding concerns as well as understand their responsibility and the actions they need to take
• support individual/s who raise or disclose the concern
• ensure that confidential, detailed and accurate records of all safeguarding concerns are maintained and securely stored
• prevent the employment/deployment of unsuitable individuals through application of a Safer Recruitment policy
• ensure robust safeguarding arrangements and procedures are in operation
