Enable Glasgow
Music is a source of enjoyment, supporting our service users in building and maintaining relationships
Enable Glasgow
Enable Glasgow is a supported living service for adults. It provides support to 22 residents with learning disabilities, dementia and autism.
We have worked with Enable Glasgow since 2018. By enabling clients to take part in and enjoy music, our music therapy sessions support them in building and maintaining relationships.
Music provides an emotional release for the people we work with, as a form of communication and relaxation, supporting them with the ability to express emotions
For one client who had experienced a period of distress, attending a music therapy session provided a space to release his emotions. Afterwards, he appeared more relaxed, having enjoyed the experience. For another client at the end stages of life, music offered a source of engagement, emotional support and fulfilment.
By partnering with Enable Glasgow, music therapy has given clients an outlet for emotional expression, offering support and connection.
