Music Industry Trusts Award
About the event
Since 1992, the Music Industry Trusts Award (MITS Award) has recognised the outstanding individuals that have made the UK music industry what it is today, all while raising millions for charity. We’re delighted that the MITS Award 2025 once again supported Nordoff and Robbins, alongside The Brit Trust, in 2025.
Highlights from the MITS Award 2025
The MITS Award 2025 honoured Ashley Tabor-King CBE, in recognition of a famous two-decade career that has changed the face of the British music industry and broadcasting. The award recognised his entrepreneurial vision and industry influence, his unwavering commitment to nurturing talent and for supporting communities and using music as a force for good.
The MITS 2025 also recognised Global Academy – a unique school and sixth form based in London launched by Ashley. The academy offers young people from all backgrounds a direct pathway into the creative industries.
About MITS Award 2025 honouree: Ashley Tabor-King CBE
Ashley Tabor-King CBE is the Founder and Executive President of Global Media & Entertainment group, established in 2007. He has grown it into one of the world’s leading media and entertainment groups. It’s also Europe’s largest commercial radio and outdoor company, and a leading force in UK advertising.
Under Ashley’s leadership, Global’s radio brands including Capital, Heart, Classic FM and LBC have grown, as well as the Global Player app and a huge range of award-winning podcasts. Each week, Global reaches 51 million across the UK.
Global has helped launch and support the careers of major artists like Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding and Stormzy. Capital’s Summertime and Jingle Bell Balls have become major UK music events, showcasing homegrown and international stars, with Mariah Carey headlining this summer’s event – marking her first UK performance in six years.
Ashley launched the Global Academy, a London-based school and sixth form specialising in media, entertainment and digital communications. The academy gives young people from all backgrounds a direct pathway into the creative industries. He also leads philanthropic efforts through Global’s Make Some Noise, which raises tens of millions of pounds for small charities across the UK.
Ashley was awarded an OBE in 2017, and a CBE in the King’s Birthday Honours List in 2024 for services to media and entertainment.

I’m extremely honoured to receive the prestigious Music
Industry Trust Award and am delighted that the Awards night will be supporting the important work of the BRIT Trust and Nordoff & Robbins, two extremely important charities in our industry whose work is very close to my heart. I’m also delighted and grateful to MITS for including Global Academy this year. I’m deeply humbled by this recognition and would like to thank everyone who has supported Global along the way, and of course thank you to the MITS Award committee for this great honour.Ashley Tabor-King CBE
